    Where to get repairs?

    Hello!
I have an older (circa 2002) Type Marine that is in need of cleaning and possible repairs. It keeps good time, still, after all these years, but the second hand jumps in approx 4 second leaps, instead of 1 second ticks.
Where should I send it for proper service? It is no longer under warranty, I suspect.
    thanks! Rickbro

I think some quartz movements jump 4 second leaps as a sign that the battery is running low and needs replacing.

I have quartz movements (not B & R) that do the same, not sure if this is a design feature or that they do the 4 second jump with lack of power.

I periodically check a quartz watch that I do not wear anymore to see if it jumps the 4 seconds so I can replace the battery as it is not good to keep a flat battery in a quartz movement as it can corrode and damage the movement.

Unfortunately that is all I can help you with.

    Best of luck.

Thanks. That's kind of what I expected the problem was. I've sent it off to Miami for cleaning, new battery, etc.

    regards, Rickbro
