Space Two chrono malfunction
I have a B&R Space Two (purchased directly from the US distributor back in 1998 or so - does that make it "vintage"?
). This watch has a chronic problem with the chrono feature that requires repair every few years. Please note that while I wear this dailiy (rotating with another watch), it is never subjected to extreme conditions (unless you count working in an office!)
When this happened last year, I decided to let Tourneau try repairing it, as they were the closest B&R dealer. However, it took Tourneau 6 months to get it back to me, and they said they might have "lost" it for part of that time (or at least didn't know exactly where it was). Yikes!
So here's the problem: In the past, the chrono function would stop working about 10 seconds after the pusher was pushed. It didn't appear to be a power reserve problem, as the watch was keeping time in normal mode (non-chrono). Now, this same problem has reoccurred this week (mid-April 2012), but this time the chorno appears to activate itself without being touched, run for less than 10 seconds, then stop - again the watch still maintains time, just not chrono. In fact, the red sweep hand will not easily reset to 12 even when the bottom pusher is pushed several times.
This seems to be a chronic problem that keeps popping up and I don't know if this is something unique to Space Two's. I really do not want to give it back to Tourneau and wait another 6 months. Rather, I would prefer to send it directly to the B&R US service center, but cannot find the address listed on the web site.
Can you help?
