[Review] Bell&Ross Vintage WW2 Regulateur Officer

    A promise is due!

Here is a short review of the newest arrival in my collection, arrived few days ago... the 19th since I put the finger in the gears, in 2009.

The Bell & Ross Vintage WW2 Regulateur Officer was a real love at first sight.
I first viewed some spyshots and then discovered it during the presentation of the novelties in Basel, with Carlos Rosillo and Bruno Belamich. Since this moment, this Wrist Watch 2 has haunted my thoughts.

Just over six months later, here it is on my wrist!!

So why this round in the square family ?? Simply for its beauty, because it is the first impression that it emits (or I got anyway ...).
Sleek design, timeless elegance, instant readability: a real Bell & Ross.

The watch comes in a square box, common to all the Vintage range. A nice leather box with a black velvet interior. The instruction booklet and warranty card are together under the main box.

Black dial, polished steel case, matte silver subcounters, black alligator strap : the tone is set ... We are facing a fine but impressive watch. All the BRand's DNA is present in this regulateur.

Vintage WW2 Regulateur Officer combines the nobility of a rare mechanical complication in modern watchmaking, with the simplicity of a "dissociated time reading". Reading the minutes is done through the central hand, while the hour hand is read by the counter at 12 o'clock; the second subcounter being set at 6.

The embedded movement is the BR-CAL.316 caliber. Automatic mechanical movement, same as fitted in its "sister" WW2 Regulateur Heritage, with the only exception that it has been rotated at 180 °, passing the crown to the right.
In fact, reading the time is more intuitive. From top to bottom, hour and minute and second, rather than the opposite.

The caseback is full and polished, a real mirror. Only a small circular engraving emphasizes the identification, serial number and waterproofness.

The case diameter measures 47mm, which could get some afraid of!
But (because there is always a but ...) the integration of mobile dual-axis horns generate the miracle. A timepiece that naturally and instantly arises on the wrist. Incredible comfort, which makes us forget its generous dimensions.

The crown has gained sobriety. Goodbye to the "onion" shape, hello to this simplified model.

The bezel is bidirectional and can move the triangular mark for a short calculating time. The glass is anti-reflective sapphire.

What could better dress this robust and refined watch than a black alligator strap, finished with a polished steel buckle 18mm?

    Let's discover some close-ups...

Tradition requires, a circumstance wristshot ...

Bell & Ross strength is placed in this ability to produce watches with a unique identity, either for a Vintage or an Aviation.
Let me quote the designer of this watch, which gave me his opinion on this magnificent regulator: "This watch is one of my favorites. Its inspiration comes from sublime navigation instruments of the old time. It is original and uncompromising. Besides being beautiful and typical, it's nice to wear!"

I can only agree with him ...

    Thanks for reading me !
