    Authenticity Check

    Hey Guys,

New to the B&R Forums and was impressed with the collective knowledge of the group! Because of this, I am hoping you all could help me out.

I picked up a B&R watch over the weekend at an Estate Sale and can't seem to find much information about the piece online. The story from the widow goes that her husband was career CIA and received the watch from a pilot friend back in the early-mid 90's (she believes it was then...no way to verify) for helping him do "something," as she put it. Regardless, I was able to haggle the price down to $200 just in case it's not real I won't feel burned by the ordeal.

Pictures attached and from what I can tell it appears authentic. Logo on the back, crown, and rotor. No suspicious lettering or serial numbers on the back (heard that a lot of replica's had "555" in them). Proper font and lettering on the dial and deployment clasp, and what I believe to be true super-luminova on the indices and hands. Screw Down crown and "Swiss Made" lettering on the dial. Oh, and it has a slightly domed crystal, if that matters.

Back says "Stainless Steel," "Swiss Made," Water Resistant," "100M/325FT" and Serial# "123S069XX" - I think it's a Vintage BR 123, but similar watches I found online didn't look like mine.

Any help, insights, or thoughts would be welcome. Hoping I didn't just lose $200, but if so...then oh well. Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Not the most expert but looks legit to me.

Most people will want to know a little bit more about you.

I think you got a bargain.

Awesome to hear! I was like 98% sure it was legit, but couldn't find an exact model to compare it to.

Does anyone know the history of this design, or its official name? I can't seem to find much about the Vintage 123 model with smaller numbers and 20/40/60 marked sub-dial. Maybe it's a "Geneva" edition?

This one is definitely a Vintage 123 Black.
Genevas have different hands and bigger numbers

    Thanks for the information Kronofred!

So looks like I found a circa 2001-2002 Vintage 123 Black. I guess it's a first gen model, then, right? I believe that's when the line started (please correct if i'm wrong).

Also, it makes the history more confusing since the lady said her husband received it in the 90's, but that seems impossible. More likely she got confused than the watch is a pre-production model or something like that.

2002 is the year the collaboration with Sinn has ended.
So yes, that's when their own line started, but yours has perhaps been done in 2003, 2004 or 2005... depending on serial number !

Ah, would the "03" ending to the serial number denote it was made in 2003, perhaps? Not sure how to decipher these serial numbers.

    Congrats
    Nice vintage.
