    Ceramic vs Steel

    Hi,
I am new to the forum, I have an opportunity to buy a new br03-92, the original steel version is the one i have admired for years,
but i have been made an offer to have the matt black ceramic one for the same price. I am now torn between ceramic and steel.
I read that the ceramic is scratch proof, but could possibly be cracked if impacted with hard surfaces.
I do like the matt blcak look, but maybe the steel might be safer. Its my first B&R, and i am not sure if i will get the opportunity to splash out on another in the future, so, for me a tough decision...

Any input from folks with more B&R experience might help me decide.

Welcome Home, The place to be...

    2 iconics BR Instrument :

In my opinion, for the first BR i will choose BR03 steel, more combination with straps, old hands, lot of reflects :
    (BR01&BR03)

look forward to welcoming you to the BROG,

Thanks this did cross my mind, the change of band on the steel perhaps provides more flexibility.
It does look fantastic. Do you have any comment on the ceramic material though? Is it as scratchproof as they say?

    Yes it is scratchproof.
I also like this BR03 : from the Dashboard to the wrist.

Steel looks bigger than a black one... depending on your wrist size.
    Agree with Fatboy, for a 1st B&R : go for Steel !

Thanks Joe, am looking forward to gettg the watch, I have admired them for years. I made a request to get one that has the top screws all at 45 degrees inwards. I was told by the supplier here that it is possible.

That is strange. I haven't seemed to have any issue posting. I didn't get any notification that I have to have Mod approval to post. Thanks for following up Rodney - not sure what is going on,.

    Thanks for the welcome.

I havent had a watch in many years, since my teens in fact, which is quite some time. And now through a matter of circumstances, I have 3 if u include the iwatch

I am a long way off from being an expert with timepieces, but I do love a great piece of design.

I have always been a fan of the B&R 03 and have now just got one for my birthday.

I just happen to be a Renault Sport fan - for many years as well - so my watch kinda goes with my car too - with the F1 sponsorship.

It's a great looking and informative forum here, so I will be looking to be a regular on here.

Here is a pic of my new watch, and my other watch.
