BR 01 AIRBORNE Limited Edition to 500 pieces

    The Talisman watch
The BR 01 Airborne is an anthem to the extraordinary saga of military paratroopers. This new watch
is a tribute to those brave young men who fought in one of the toughest army corps, particularly the
    US Airborne divisions.
The Airborne divisions were born during the Second World War. They were the first to be exposed to
danger and the first ones to face death. Their most famous motto was “Death from Above” symbolised by
a skull that was a reminder to them of both their power and vulnerability.
Since then, the symbol has spread to other military regiments. It is often embossed on uniforms patches
or on fighter planes. The skull is a constant reminder of the omnipresence of death on each military
mission. By wearing the skull, the soldiers are attempting to both defy death and intimidate the enemy.
The BR 01 Airborne reinvents the notion of the talisman, and personifies
the very spirit of these outstanding men. It is a genuine tribute to the noblest
of military values as well as to the bravery of soldiers who face death on a
daily basis to defend their country.

Ok, if this is an April fool's day joke then you got me!! Ha ha..

If not, then i think this is an insult to all of the men, yes men, as not one lady had passed P- Company to date in order to call themselves a British Airborne Warrior of the Parachute Regiment or attached Arms in 16 Air Assault Brigade.

If this was to pay tribute to the Airborne fighters of this world then why use the design of one nations flash? There have been many tributes paid on limited runs of watches with emblems, B&R have embossed the French Air force on the Aviation.

The biggest Airborne Operation was Operation Market Garden which was a joint Allied insersion into Holland during WWII. Why not elaborate this tribute of multi national operation?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Market_Garden

More notably Operation Tonga the sole purpose of Airborne Operations to land in enemy territory and in this case capture a bridge and deny the enemy. Pegasus bridge??

Then again, is it because the market is in the US and due to a run of 500 they may just get sold? Or this Press Release is very badly worded to reflect this new creation by B&R?

Sorry if i sound as if i am on my soap box, but having served in 16 Air Assault Brigade i do not know of one UK PARATROOPER in his right mind would buy/wear this whilst lobbing into the DZ as a talisman - Just being in the door with Airborne brotherhood is enough.

Then again i could be wrong and this is a decoy for what was stated as super things to come from B&R? I HOPE SO!

No I'd buy it for jumping out of a plane. What other watch would be more suited than this (sarcastic laugh)

I'm not feeling the love in this room LOL

Personally, I'm not keen on it, but I'm quite sure that it is a high quality, as always.

It appears to me to be more of a fashion watch, given the recent trend towards skull motifs on bandanners (spelling?) but then I appreciate that I am unaware of the military history said to be behind it.

I'm sure it will sell well, regardless of what we say on here! lol

It's more than a day since the picture went up and I still can't get over it. This has got to be an early April Fool's gag. It has to be. Something like that can't possibly be a tribute to people who put their lives on the line. Even as a fashion watch it's BAAAAAAAD.

THE last-surviving officer of the daring Pegasus Bridge operation, which paved the way for the D-Day landings during the Second World War, has died aged 85.
Colonel David Wood was just 21 when he led a platoon of airborne troopers who helped secure two key bridges in Normandy hours before the Allied beach assault.
He was among dozens of troops who drifted silently behind enemy lines in six wooden Horsa gliders in the early hours of June 6, 1944, and took just 10 minutes to take the bridges. The heroic mission prevented the Germans sending in reinforcements and enabled Allied forces to continue their advance after taking the beaches.
It has been hailed as "the single most important 10 minutes of the war" and featured prominently in the 1962 Hollywood film The Longest Day.
Colonel Wood was awarded the Légion d'honneur – France's highest military honour – for his heroic actions. He went on to serve 36 years with the Army before his retirement in 1978.

    Now thats Heritage and Airborne!

    We Will remember!

I will never fail to be humbled by what such young men do in the field of action - having had a couple of reunions and met my fellow schoolmates who have gone on to lead platoons in Iraq and Afghanistan, my life is a positive failure with regards to the impacts it's had on other people!

I wish I was fit enough and physically able to make a difference but I think my time has now passed...

    nice. I'd love to win a B&R.

I tried to enter the competition, as it's quite easy - but despite you being able to enter a country, it doesn't accept a UK postcode - or even partial UK postcode.

I am now going to cry!
