| My watch is approx 7 years old and I've never changed the battery. About two weeks ago I noticed that the second hand was moving in 5 second increments. I assume this is due to the battery dying and needing to be replaced. Does anyone know if this is the case? Also, if so, then can I take it to any fine jeweler to replace? I don't live near an authorized dealer and don't want to send it anywhere. Thanks. |

Yes, I think that movement has an EOL (end of life) indicator - although I thought it moved in 2 sec steps, not 5. But this sounds like EOL-type behaviour.
The battery is a conventional item, freely available, and the caseback requires a normal removal tool. But I would find a jeweller who can test the re-assembled case to at least 10 bar (100m equivalent), preferably 20 bar, to ensure you've still got some water resistance.
At 7 years old you might be wanting new seals for the caseback and crown, if you dive with it. This is where a local non-B&R jeweller may run into difficulties, if the seals have a special profile. _________________ B&R Type Marine |

Andrew is right this is an EOL indicator like some models on SEIKO watches, at first the second hand moves in 2sec step, than moves in 5sec step when the battery is almost over.
You can totally ask any jeweller to replace the battery. any good jeweller will have the machine to make a new water resitance in your watch. 10ATM (100m) is the minimum is you swin with your watch, 20ATM (200m) required if you dive with your watch, 30ATM and more if you are a professional diver and go very deep or during a long period.
As Andrew said, a general service on your watch might be a great idea, in order to check every seal, watch oils, movement, crown, etc...
hope it will help you. _________________ Gudzyy
